Position: Health and Safety Lead
Job Summary: As the Health and Safety Lead, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring the well-being of our team members and creating a secure working environment. Your role involves developing, implementing, and managing health and safety policies and programs, in adherence to industry regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement Safety Policies:
- Craft and update comprehensive health and safety policies tailored for the construction industry.
- Ensure alignment with local (Newmont) and state regulations.
Training and Education:
- Conduct regular safety training sessions for employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Stay informed about industry best practices and communicate relevant information to the team.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct regular risk assessments on sites and implement measures to mitigate identified risks.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, providing detailed reports and recommendations for prevention.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay informed about changes in health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Ensure the company's compliance with all relevant safety standards.
Site Inspections:
- Regularly inspect sites to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with project leads to promptly address safety concerns.
Emergency Response Planning:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and first aid protocols.
- Conduct regular drills to test the effectiveness of emergency plans.
Safety Culture Promotion:
- Foster a strong safety culture by promoting awareness and accountability throughout the organization.
- Encourage reporting of safety concerns and near misses.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including training, inspections, and incidents.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on health and safety performance to management.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a Health and Safety role within the construction or mining industry.
- Mincom Certified Senior Safety Officer.
- Knowledge of local and state mining safety regulations.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, or equivalent, are preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid Driver’s License C and above with five (5) years’ experience in manual vehicle driving.
